Western Australia, my final visit as Australian Children’s Laureate.

My last interstate visit in my role as Australian Children’s Laureate is to beautiful other-side-of-this-huge continent, Western Australia. According to Google Maps, from my home to Perth, it’s 3428 kilometres and would take 1 day and 12 hours of non-stop driving. There’s also the 2-hour time difference between east and west coasts.

I’m really looking forward to visiting schools and meeting kids in Perth, Kalgoorlie and Albany, sharing stories with them, drawing and generally having fun!

I’ll also be giving 2 public events – one in Perth at the State Library of WA on the 21st of August. This is a talk for teachers, librarians, writers and anyone interested in coming. It’s also a meet and greet and will go from 5PM-6.30PM. The event is free, but bookings are essential and can be made here.

The second event is a Chinese painting and dragon workshop for children aged 7+ at the wonderful Paperbird Books in Fremantle on Saturday the 26th of August from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. This is a fun workshop where children learn the fundamentals of Chinese painting. The link to book for this workshop can be found here.

I hope to see some of you there!
