I dreamt about you last night Sue Lawson. I dreamt that you won an award for your novel. There were two other writer friends in the dream who were shortlisted for the same award, but I can’t recall their faces now. Each novel was accompanied by a song. Your song was the beautiful, ‘Who Knows Where the Time Goes’ by Sandy Denny. The Wishbird was not on the shortlist but I didn’t mind, not in the dream anyway. I just thought how strange that it didn’t have a song attached to it because the story is all about music. Then I remembered thinking that books are silent things, silent that is until they are opened. Then they fill your mind with noise. But sometimes the notes linger long after the book is closed.
