Play School Story Time

What a thrill it was to be on Play School Story Time recently. I could choose any one of the iconic Play School toys to accompany me. They are all kept in a locked cloth cupboard. I could almost hear them giggling and jostling with each other. It was such a hard decision to make but in the end Little Ted won out. He had already stolen my heart 30 years ago when my kids were small. He is beautiful and so well loved with bare patches over his body which made me want to hold him very very gently. With Little Ted on my lap, I gave my top five tips to parents and teachers about sharing quality diverse literature to children. It will be aired on ABC Kids soon. An episode of Play School was filmed right after I was done so in the make up room I got to meet Rachael, one of the wonderful presenters.

Thank you to lovely Linda Harrison (pictured below) who practiced my script with me before going on air and ABC producer Laura Stone for inviting me on the show. I first met Linda when I was doing a CBCA and Laureate event in Newcastle a few months ago. You never know where chance meetings can lead. And thank you of course to Kris Darrell program manager for the ACLF for teaming up with ABC Kids to make it all happen. It was definitely a career highlight.
