Follow the dragon to Kangaroo Island, South Australia

My next stop in South Australia as Australian Children’s Laureate was to Kangaroo Island. Over two days, I spoke at the three primary schools there – Kingscote, Parndana and Penneshaw campuses. I talked about being Laureate, then about books and writing followed by a dragon drawing workshop.

This is Emma from Kingscote campus who kindly organised everything while I was on Kangaroo Island

Penneshaw would have to be set in the most picturesque locations.

I also had an event in the Big Quince, a gorgeous bookshop in Kingscote. Call in if you visit KI. Alice Teasdale will always welcome you warmly.

The display below is from a Chinese painting workshop I did with the students of Kingscote 5 years before. What a lovely surprise to see the walls covered with birds and bamboo.

My best friend Wendy, who is also my dearest childhood friend and is the inspiration for much of my writing lives there too. We are like little kids when we see each other.

This was taken in Melbourne when we were 9 and 10 years old                                                                                          This photo was taken just the other day on Kangaroo Island
