On Friday, I visited the State Library of NSW to give a talk at the wonderful Lit Up Conference for teachers and librarians.
Before the event, I attended the “Imagine… the wonder of picture books” exhibition. It was definitely worth a visit, especially because I saw an original painting from one of my illustrator idols – Ida Rentoul Outhwaite. I have loved her work since my mum gave me “The Little Green Road to Fairyland” when I was seven. I used to copy her illustrations over and over again. I still have this precious book on my favourites shelf.
